SRI LANKA HIGHER EDUCATION SUPPORT ... teach a man to fish...etc.. !! FORGET IT... teach her to be an engineer, nurse, lawyer, accountant, doctor.. !! Take her/him and their family out of poverty. Many families in Sri Lanka are still in post-tsunami temporary shelters, shacks or even tents (really !.. no, I don't know where the big money has gone.. it didn't come to Rose Charities.. ) 300 pounds .total.. can put a Sri Lankan student through university. A university degree means a job, and escape from poverty for her/himself, family and possibly others in their community. If you donate all or part of this we will put you directly in touch with the student so you can really see yourself what you have done. If you are thinking of donating to buy a goat, cow, or outdoor latrine this Christmas... great..do it.. ! but keep in mind that they are not the best at communicating back :) If you wish to donate to this cause, make sure you mention it with your donation.

The RRT is an entirely independent charitable trust registered with the Charity Commission UK, No. 1091164. It was founded to assist with any form of charitable rehabilitation effort in an any capacity that it is able (expertise, funding etc).
The board of trustees of the RRT consist of professional volunteers with a combined wide expertise in international law, accounting, medicine/surgery and field level project administration. While any bona fide rehabilitation (of any nature) oriented cause may be considered for assistance those of small scale direct, hands-on voluntary enthusiasm are especially favoured as it is so often these which are wrongly eclipsed by the large scale advertising of those much larger.
Support given in 2004-2009

Both Rose Charities UK and the other main groups of the Rose Charities International network, were started by Sennokians. Mick Audsley, Will Edge, Will Grut are all old Sevenoaks Schoolboys. Josephine de Freitas, Barbara Reade, Maggie Francis, Fiona Darroch, either at Walthamstow Hall, or St Hilary's. Joephine and Maggie had a strange meeting. They met as two strangers just by starting chatting in snowy park in Toronto. They found out that they had both been at school in Sevenoaks UK at the same time, and then the same school, and only then did they remember each other ! Mick Audsley, lifelong friend of many of the Sevenoaks founders and directors is a huge Rose Charities supporter and Rose Charities UK's celebrity spokesperson. Mick is one of the most renowned film editors in the world, with multiple masterpieces under his belt. He has just finished editing Harry Potter 4. Mick is also a songwriter and both professionally released and currently performing musician. Will Grut studied Medicine at Kings College London, then later parasitology, and tropical medicine. He had brief fame in British skydiving and as an astronaut candidate before emigrating to Canada (where Rose Charities Canada was started). Fiona Darroch is a leading international advocate in international law associated with developing country and environmental issues. Barbara Reade (St Hilarys) is a Charted Accountant with considerable international experience, Josephine de Freitas has founded charity projects in Guayana for CIDA (Canadian Intl. Development Agency). Will Edge (Sevenoaks School) has a growing career as an internet and communications expert, managing the division of a major Company in London. All, either live or return to Sevenoaks regularly |
